SOLAR MECHANICAL LEAD
Pay Range: $28–$36/hr
Reports To: Solar Project Manager
Travel: Up to 75% (company-paid lodging, transportation, and per diem)
Position Summary
The Solar Mechanical Lead oversees the assembly and installation of mechanical components for commercial and industrial solar projects (250 kW – 5 MW+): racking, modules, wire management, layout, and staging. This role ensures mechanical installation is accurate, efficient, and meets Jefferson Energy’s standards for safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Leadership

Lead mechanical installation crews (4–8 employees).

Train team members in racking assembly, module installation, torque sequences, wire management, and layout.

Delegate tasks to ensure production targets and workmanship standards are met.
Project Execution

Complete preconstruction layout including array positioning, attachment layout, and material staging.

Install racking, modules, grounding, wire management, and balance-of-system components.

Coordinate closely with AC Lead and Foreman to maintain project flow.
Quality & Safety

Conduct daily quality checks on racking, torqueing, wire management, and overall array workmanship.

Lead site safety practices including PPE enforcement and fall protection adherence.

Use torque tools and QC equipment to ensure all mechanical systems meet manufacturer and project specifications.
Documentation

Maintain material inventories, daily production logs, and planning for upcoming work.

Assist with punch lists and close-out documentation.

Support drone-based documentation when applicable.
Required Experience & Skills

3–5 years mechanical racking/module installation experience.

2–4 years leading small teams.

Advanced knowledge of mechanical solar systems, components, and installation sequencing.

Ability to lift 75+ lbs repeatedly and work at varying rooftop heights.

Strong attention to detail and quality.
Preferred (Not Required) Credentials

State electrical licensure (any level)

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
