Electrical Lead

Pay Range: $28–$36/hr
Reports To: Electrical Project Manager
Travel: Mostly local with occasional short regional travel

POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Lead supports the successful execution of commercial and industrial electrical projects valued at $100,000 or more, including service upgrades, panel and gear installations, tenant improvements, LED retrofits, EV infrastructure, and other C&I scopes of work. They lead small crews, ensure safety and quality, interpret plans, manage materials, and support Jefferson Energy’s core values: Partnership, Transparency, Impact, and Grit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Training

  • Lead and mentor small electrical crews on C&I jobsites.

  • Train apprentices and newer technicians on installation best practices, quality standards, and safe work methods.

  • Delegate tasks effectively to keep crews productive and coordinated.

Field Installation

  • Perform and oversee conduit installation, gear setting, panel wiring, service termination, EV infrastructure, and lighting upgrades.

  • Execute work according to NEC, company standards, and project specifications.

  • Read and interpret one-lines, electrical plans, and technical documents.
     

Planning & Coordination

  • Conduct preplanning, material forecasting, and staging for upcoming work.

  • Assist with daily logs, documentation, and JobTread task updates.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors and temp labor to maintain workflow.
     

Quality & Safety

  • Perform daily quality checks and correct issues immediately.

  • Model and enforce safe work practices, PPE usage, and site organization.

  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability without creating fear—reinforce that safety is a shared responsibility that protects everyone.
     

Communication & Documentation

  • Communicate daily with the Project Manager regarding crew progress, material needs, and upcoming tasks.

  • Interact with customers when the PM is unavailable, maintaining professionalism and clarity.
    Assist with punch lists and project close-out documentation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years electrical experience

  • 2–4 years commercial electrical experience

  • 2–4 years leading small crews

PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) LICENSES & CREDENTIALS

  • Journeyman electrician license (any state) preferred

  • Medium Voltage Experience

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

  • First Aid/CPR

  • MEWP / Scissor lift 

  • Forklift or Telehandler certification

  • JobTread familiarity

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift 50+ lbs repeatedly

  • Work from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts (MEWP / scissor)

  • Work at variable heights common in commercial buildings

  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements; repeated disregard for safety may lead to corrective action, but the focus is on proactive coaching and shared responsibility.
