Job Title: Solar Electrical Lead (Travel team)
Job Status: Full-Time Hourly
Reports to: Project Manager
Job Purpose: The Solar Electrical Lead is responsible for overseeing the electrical installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position requires expertise in electrical systems, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Electrical Lead works closely with the Solar Foreman and project managers to ensure efficient, compliant, and timely completion of electrical work. This is a traveling position.

JOB DESCRIPTION
● Electrical Installation Oversight
● Lead the installation of solar PV electrical systems, including wiring, inverters, and grounding
● Interpret and execute electrical plans and schematics accurately
● Ensure compliance with NEC codes, local regulations, and project specifications
● Team Leadership
● Supervise and mentor electricians and apprentices on the crew
● Assign tasks and monitor progress to meet deadlines
● Conduct quality checks to ensure high standards are met
● Safety and Compliance
● Enforce adherence to electrical safety standards and PPE usage
● Identify and mitigate electrical hazards during the installation process
● Troubleshooting and Maintenance
● Diagnose and resolve issues with PV system performance
● Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure functionality
SKILLS and APTITUDES
● Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, NEC codes, and photovoltaic (PV) technology
● Ability to manage and clearly instruct electrical apprentices and junior technicians
● Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and electrical test equipment
● Skilled in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and plan sets
● Physically capable of lifting 50–75 lbs; standing, bending, and kneeling for 8–14 hours a day
● Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces, including on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, rooftops, and electrical rooms
● Able to perform work in various weather conditions and meet project deadlines under pressure
● Available for overtime, weekend work, and emergency troubleshooting when required
● Certifications:
○ Journeyman Electrician License (preferred)
○ NABCEP PV Installer Certification (preferred)
○ OSHA 10 Certification (required or willingness to obtain)
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
● 3+ years of experience in solar PV or related electrical work
● Supervisory experience (preferred)
● High School Diploma or equivalency Other Requirements
● Valid driver’s license
● Willingness to travel out of state 50% or more of the year
● Basic tooling for line of work
